Franz-Xaver Simmen appointed CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG Robert Fellermeier appointed CEO Switzerland of Orascom Hotels Management AG Jean-Yves Blatt appointed director of The Chedi Andermatt hotel

Franz-Xaver Simmen, member of the executive committee of Schindler Aufzüge AG, has been named new CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG. 39 years old, Simmen grew up in Realp and lives in Altdorf. He completed his studies in civil engineering at the Biel University of Applied Sciences and continued his education at the IMD Lausanne and other institutions, also earning an Executive MBA at the University of St. Gallen. Simmen also has broad management experience; during his career he has held various management positions in several companies, including AS Aufzüge AG and Schindler Aufzüge AG.

Amongst his hobbies are downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and golf. Simmen will take on his new role in the forthcoming months. Robert Fellermeier, Managing Director of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, will take on a new role within the Orascom Group.

He is returning to his original field, hotel management, and will become CEO Switzerland of Orascom Hotels Management AG. During the past four years, Fellermeier served first as Head Destination Operations and then Managing Director, contributing significantly to the development of the tourism resort in Andermatt. Jean-Yves Blatt will become the new General Director of The Chedi Andermatt hotel. 51 years old, from western Switzerland, he completed studies at the École Hôtelière de Lausanne and has broad experience in luxury hotel management.

During his career he has worked at Le Mirador, Vevey/Montreux, the Lausanne Palace & Spa and other hotels, such as the Grand Hotel Park in Gstaad, where he held various positions including General Manager since 2009. Jean-Yves Blatt will take up his new role as director of The Chedi Andermatt at the beginning of March 2015. He succeeds York Brandes, who has been directing the hotel ad interim since the departure of Hansjörg Meier. “I’m pleased that we have been able to gain such outstanding personalities for these three important management positions in Switzerland”, said Samih Sawiris, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG and of Orascom Development Holding AG. “With their broad experience, they will contribute significantly to the development of Andermatt into a first-class holiday destination.”
