OVG sells the Edge

OVG Real Estate and Deka Immobilien have reached agreement on the purchase of The Edge office building, which is currently under construction at the Zuidas in Amsterdam. The 40,000-m2 building is characterized by its unprecedented, high level of sustainability.

The Edge is located in the Knowledge Quarter next to the A10 highway and was designed by Ron Bakker and Lee Polisano from PLP Architecture in London. The Edge has been awarded a BREEAM-NL ‘Outstanding’ certificate and on completion in the fall of 2014 will be one of the most sustainable buildings in continental Europe. In addition to its sustainability, The Edge also features applied innovations that enable the building to set new standards in terms of user comfort. The building will be completed in October this year, when OVG will hand it over to tenants Deloitte and AKD, who have signed a long-term rental agreement.

This transaction is the biggest single asset investment transaction of the year. This purchase confirms Deka Immobilien's trust in the quality and the future of the Zuidas.

Jan Hein Tiedema, Commercial Director of OVG Netherlands: ‘’At the start of this project it was our goal to reach the highest level of sustainability and comfort. During the crisis we decided to make an extra investment in energy efficiency and innovative LED systems. We have always trusted in our proposition, which combines transparent architecture, extreme sustainability and optimal user comfort. We are extremely proud to hand the property over to one of the biggest international investors in the world.’’

Parties involved:
Deka Immobilien received legal and fiscal advice from Baker & McKenzie and technical advice from CBRE. OVG received legal advice from Houthoff Buruma, fiscal advice from PWC and conveyance advice from JLL. ABN AMRO Real Estate Finance is financier.
